Max rolled his eyes and sat down on the platform, laptop in his lap. Roach, Rizzo, and Enols were already on the platform, seated and ready to go. Moose lingered on the edge of the platform.
"What if it's a trap?" he didn't seem too keen on this new traveling device.
"So what if it is?" Max said, dragging him onto the glistening silver platform.
"But-" Moose was cut off by the platform's incessant whir. It rose above the ground and sped off into the maze, with it's new passengers clinging onto each other ofr dear life.

It's coming.

The platform slowed and dropped into and indent
in the ground. They all rose to their feet. The
mad man, the chess master, the
jabberwocky...Whatever you wish to call him,
was standing a foot away. He cackled
"Do you think I'm stupid?" Roach blurted out
what came to mind first
"No, sir." ~That sounded stupid~ he thought as
the words exited his mouth
"Well, I've outsmarted you." his image
flickered. Another hologram, just what they all
needed. It laughed and the platform was whipped
out from beneath them. A moment of
weightlessness, then down, down, down they
went.

They all collapsed in a pile under the shaft, a human dogpile. Most of them seemed to disentangle themselves from each other easily. Max had managed to keep his laptop from getting broken, in the process sticking his hand down Rizzo's shirt, reciving a hard slap on one side of his face. Moose seemed to have landed on his feet and....
"As much as I enjoy you sitting on me, I'd appriciate it if you got off." Enola blushed and jumped off of Roach, obviously embarassed.Roach sat up and....
"No sh*t." Max gasped
"What?" Moose said, peeking over his shoulder
"That, my friend, is a sonic lock."
"What does it do?"
"My best guess is, that if you play the correct tune on that there piano" he pointed to a huge black piano "It'll open the door-"
"And get us closer to Emily!"

.......Okiday...I'll be waiting....

Roach was already sitting at the piano. He
fingered the keys and then saw that there were
sheets of music, he picked them up, reading each
one in turn. So this guy was an insane chess
freak, lover of fiction and Beethoven fanatic?
This was weird. Weirder than weird. He started
to play, it sounded beautiful. The lock started
to turn, but another piano started to play the
same tune Roach was. The lock started to turn
the other way. Roach played louder and louder,
so did the other pianist, they played faster
and faster until the song was in quadruple
time. The lock began to shake, it shook more
violently the faster they played. Finally, it
exploded into a million tiny fragments. The
doors swung open...

...There was a piano in the other room, it was
white, the keys were black and the sharps were
white. The exact opposite of the piano Roach
had been playing. The jabberwocky was nowhere
to be seen. They crowded into the room, on the
piano was a note. Enola picked it up and read
it aloud:
"Dearest Friends," Max scoffed
"More like puppets." Enola read on
"It seems you have won."
"Yeah, did you think we would fail, cactus-
face?" Enola rolled her eyes and ignored his
comments
"I would like to play with you again but it
seems..." Enola trailed off
"What does it say?" Roach put an arm around
Enola's waist to steady her, she had paled and
she looked as if she was going to faint
".....That you would be playing without a vital
piece. ~JABBERWOCKY"

Then, in the corner of the room, light shone
off a metal collar. A metal collar attached to
a neck, a neck belonging to Emily. She did not
blink, she did not stir. She was not breathing.
She was gone. Moose coudn't seem to speak.
Enola was hanging onto Rizzo so she could stand
and Roach turned to Max.
"You know what I want you to do."
"But...That could kill you!"
"I'm willing to take that risk."

Max began to stutter
"B-b-b-but I don't have the m-m-machine..."
"You have the software."
"I h-h-have no w-way to connect you t-to
her..."
"It's K-k-kken and he's c-c-c-coming to k-k-
kill me."
"...But Roach!"
"What I want to see is two wired\s coming out
of your laptop. Now."
"Okay, okay." Two wires snaked ouy, one clamped
onto Roach's arm, the other onto Emily's. "Got
it...Now, transfer." Max pressed the enter key.

A pulsating light went from Roach's arm into Emily. Roach sank to his knees. Emily took a shaky breath, Enola let go of Rizzo. Rizzo stared, Moose let out a breath he had been holding for a very long time and Max gasped
"It worked!" the wires zipped back into the laptop. Emily ripped off the collar. there was a gash in her neck, it was mostly healed, but there would be a scar there for the rest of her life. Emily smiled
"You gave up your immortality for me?" she asked, Roach chuckled
"Who else would have salad with me on Thursdays?" she smiled, then her smile faded
"So you not going to kill yourself?"
"Well, no." Roach glanced at Enola "Now I have something to live for."

Emily saw Moose. She leapt at him, causing a
collision of his lips and hers. She didn't care
if he didn't like her. She had been waiting for
this moment since the first day they'd met.Roach shrugged. He wanted to have that felling again, the feeling he had gotten when he kissed Enola, so he kissed her, again. That left Max and Rizzo. Max looked pleadingly at Rizzo
"Please?"
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"No."
"PLEASE?!?!?!"
"No."

END!!!

Moose grinned and humed happliy. i think that is a sign of a good ending.
